Lightweight castable is a kind of castable mixture which is made up of lightweight refractory aggregate, powder, binder and admixture. Because of its small volume and low thermal conductivity, lightweight castable can also be called thermal insulation refractory castable.

Generally speaking, light refractory castables can be divided into:

The volume density of semi light refractory castable is 1.0-1.8g/cm3

The volume density of light refractory castable is 0.4-1.0g/cm3

Super light refractory castable with bulk density less than 0.4g/cm3

According to service temperature:

Low temperature light refractory castable, service temperature of 600-900 ℃

Medium temperature light refractory castable, service temperature 900-1200 ℃

High temperature light refractory castable, service temperature is more than 1200 ℃

In general, different types of lightweight castables can be selected according to different temperature and volume density.
