The purpose of microcellular molding carbon brick is to improve the oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance and poor permeability of common carbon brick, and to develop microcellular carbon brick with average pore diameter less than 0.5 μ M. Microporous carbon brick is a kind of refractory product made of anthracite calcined at high temperature (1500-2000 ℃), a small amount of graphite powder and silica powder, and medium temperature asphalt as binder.
The formation of micro pores in micro porous carbon brick is due to the addition of silicon metal in the brick. Silicon particles melt and vaporize at a certain temperature, infiltrate and diffuse into cracks and pores of carbon brick, forming redistribution. At a certain temperature, the gaseous Si reacts with carbon to form self binding β - SiC. This β - SiC filled almost all the cracks and pores in the carbon brick, and deposited on the pore wall. The β - SiC produced by the reaction has the obvious effect of filling pores, reducing pore size and air permeability.
Microporous carbon brick not only has excellent conventional properties, but also has good performance of alkali resistance, heat conductivity, molten iron corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and molten iron permeability resistance. Microporous carbon brick is mainly used in those abnormal erosion areas and areas with serious ring seam erosion and other weak links of blast furnace.
